Jeannie Gayle Pool is a well-known researcher, lecturer, writer, producer, music archivist and music preservation specialist, who has worked in Los Angeles for more than 35 years. She holds a Ph.D. in musicology from the Claremont Graduate University, served as the archivist and musicologist for Paramount Pictures Features Music Department from 2001-2012, and was Executive Director of the Film Music Society from 1990 until 2001. Her book, co-authored with H. Stephen Wright, A Research Guide for Film and Television Music in the United States was published in 2011 by Scarecrow Press and describes the unique nature of film and television materials. She established (with Dr. Beverly Grigsby) the International Institute of Women in Music Special Collection at CSUN (including the Aaron I. Cohen Sound Recording Collection), donated the Zenobia Powell Perry Collection to the Center for Black Music Research, and has facilitated the donation of numerous music collections to Southern California institutions since 1984 (including the CBS Collection at UCLA). She is a composer and publisher member of ASCAP, a founder of the International Congress on Women in Music (now the Alliance for Women in Music), and serves as an officer for the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers.
